If you’ve been to Apple’s homepage in the past couple of weeks you may have seen the counter for the App Store downloads, which was rapidly approaching the 25 billion downloads mark. It took Apple three years to reach the 15 billion download mark while the latest 10 billion apps have been downloaded in less than eight months! Apple has been recently running a promotion in anticipation of the landmark event and had also made an official announcement to reward the user who makes the record ‘25 billionth’ app with an App Store Gift Card of USD 10,000 or equivalent, redeemable in the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBook Store, as available in the country in which the winner is located.
Apple iTunes App Store has recorded a staggering growth in the download rate in the last one year. If you move over a year behind and earlier, App Store downloads had crossed 1 billion back in April of 2009, and then smashed through the 10 billion in January of 2011.
