Sony Xperia sola

Sony Mobile has lifted the lid on another new smartphone. The Xperia sola is basically the MT27 ‘Pepper’ that we’ve seen so much of recently. The Xperia sola includes a very cool new feature called ‘floating touch technology’. What this means is that you to interact with your phone without even touching the screen! The 3.7-inch capacitive screen will allow you to register your finger up to 20mm above the display. Sounds amazing. This function is not open to all areas of the phone and is only limited to the built-in browser (for highlighting links) and live wallpapers that react to the floating touch input.   source

Ericsson counterpart, and the Xperia sola lies squarely in the middle of the pack. The flagship Xperia S has set the ceiling and the Xperia U will set the floor of what to expect from the company’s Android offerings. The Xperia sola, for its part, must be keen to bolster the impression that Sony is in pretty good shape since going solo.

Sony Xperia sola review

Although technically not a part of the NXT series, the Xperia sola shares some of the design choices of its 2012 Xperia siblings. It offers a few notable features to make up for its lack of Ice Cream Sandwich (the Android 4.0 update is scheduled for summer 2012). These include a super-crisp Reality display with Floating Touch and a powerful dual-core processor, which promises tp run Gingerbread perfectly smooth. It also has NFC, and the retail package comes with a couple of NFC tags to play around with.

ICS update for the Sony Xperia arc and Xperia Neo

Two more members of the Xperia family are joining the Ice Cream Sandwich club – congratulations to the Sony Ericsson (well, technically Sony now) Xperia arc and Xperia neo. What they’re getting is Android 4.0.4 – the latest available from Google – but they’re sticking with an older kernel – 2.6.32. The update is being rolled out in stages, so it might not be available for your unit just yet. Owners of an Xperia arc can check this page to see if the ICS update is available for their unit (you need to check the phone’s SI number printed under the battery) and Xperia neo owners can have a look here.
The remaining Xperia phones from the 2011 lineup – Xperia mini, Xperia mini pro, Xperia pro, Xperia active and Live with Walkman – are also to get the 4.0.4 update starting some time this week, though we haven’t seen reports of updated phones yet (post in the comments if you do get the update). The Xperia PLAY will not be updated as previously reported.

ICS update for the Sony Xperia arc and Xperia Neo
Xperia phones that already got the ICS update (arc S, neo V and ray) will also be getting the Android 4.0.4 treatment soon (what they received was 4.0.3).
The NXT series will take a bite of the Ice Cream Sandwich starting with the Sony Xperia S (update expected in late June), with the Xperia P and Xperia U following in Q3.

Sony Ericsson W580i Walkman Style White Unlocked GSM Phones Hot Deals @ 79.99

The walkman part of this phone is good. The screen is too easy to break. I cracked 2 screens without being hard on it. Durability is not one of its features. Pictures are not great either. Not good quality. If you are looking for a basic phone this is ok, but if you are spending your money, buy a k850i, With ingenious design traits and a 14mm thin profile, this is an unlocked phone that you can’t afford not to have. It can easily fit in your pocket and the 2-inch screen is good enough to fit a lot of information on it. The internal memory is suitable enough to store a couple songs, but if you are looking to keep your collection on it, then the memory stick micro will have to do. GPRS is onboard for those who need the extra power and while there isn’t 3G, calls still come in very clear. This lightweight device delivers more power that some other weight-comparable devices. This is thanks in part to Sony Ericsson engineering which has been at the forefront of design technology for years now.

Unlocked Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 Review and Hot Deals

The X8 is an old phone now, and is available quite cheaply. The Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 looks a lot like the X10 Mini and has similar specs and a similar price. But by increasing the size and resolution of the screen it becomes a lot more usable. The user interface is the same though, and feels dated compared with Android phones from HTC or Samsung. Originally running Android 1.6, it’s now been updated to version 2.1, but still lags behind rival phones running 2.3. The custom firmware from Sony Ericsson and O2 also doesn’t seem to help with reliability, with some users reporting freezing and crashing. All the other features seem to have been retained however. Connectivity is good, with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Sony Ericsson X8 Black (Unlocked Quadband) Android GSM Cell Phone

The media player is excellent and there’s an FM radio with RDS too. aGPS is here, with full support for Google Maps (including Street View) and geo-tagging of photos. A demo version of WisePilot Turn-by-Turn navigation software is included. The built-in memory of 128MB isn’t bad to start with, and you can add microSD memory cards of up to 16GB. A 2GB card is included in the sales package. Web browsing is better on the X8 than on the X10 Mini, although it isn’t the best, involving clicking zoom buttons, as there’s no pinch-to-zoom capability. There’s no Flash support either, although on the positive side YouTube videos are fully supported via a dedicated app. The processor is a 600 MHz Qualcomm CPU, the same as used in the X10 Mini, and it’s adequate for the type of device. We’re relieved to see that the battery power has been boosted significantly compared with the X10 Mini, and battery life isn’t a major issue with theX8, although it isn’t the best around.

ICS Update Available for Sony Ericsson Cell Phones

Sony’s released a beta version of Ice Cream Sandwich for the Xperia family Phones. It’s allowing eager-beaver Android fans to get a scoop of Android 4.0 ahead of the official release. Sony Ericsson is currently rolling out the upgrade to Gingerbread 2.3.4 across its entire 2011 Xperia smartphone. This software upgrade will be available through a phased roll out in select markets. Beyond Gingerbread 2.3.4, we plan to upgrade our 2011 Xperia smartphone portfolio to the next Android platform made available to us. The transition from Android 2.3 to Android 4.0, however, always seems to have been stalled due problems ever since it was released five months back and most of the manufacturers are yet to launch ICS on their existing devices. ICS, which builds on the things people love most about Android, such as easy multitasking, rich notifications, customizable home screens, resizable widgets and deep interactivity, is a simple, beautiful and useful OS that adds powerful new ways of communicating and sharing. Sony has detailed the updates a little more,

ICS Update For Sony ericsson Xperia Phones

ICS Update For Sony ericsson Xperia Phones

Today Sony’s offering up more details about exactly when each of its 2011 (and 2012) Xperia handsets will be getting the latest version of Android. The manufacturer had previously promised updates during Q1, but with just two days of the current quarter remaining, it should come as no surprise that things haven taken a little longer than anticipated. The first Sony devices to get ICS will be the Xperia Arc S, Xperia Neo V and Xperia Ray, starting mid-April. Next up it’s the Xperia Arc, Xperia Play, Xperia Neo, Xperia Mini, Xperia Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, Xperia Active and SE Live with Walkman, which will get ICS from “the end of May/early June. If you’ve just bought a brand new Xperia S, though, you’ll be in for a much longer wait. Sony’s new European flagship isn’t expected to get ICS until late Q2. As we said in our review, the Xperia S is a phone which sorely needs that ICS update, and early adopters will no doubt be frustrated to find themselves at the back of the line. Sony also revealed that for 2011 Xperia phones, ICS will be an optional upgrade rather (through the PC Companion app) than a automatic over-the-air update. This is similar to the strategy adopted by Sony Ericsson with the Xperia X10′s Gingerbread update. Writing on its Developer World Blog, Sony explains that ICS may actually degrade performance for some users due to increased memory use, and changes to the way SQL databases are handled, so it’s not forcing the update on anyone in an OTA.

Buy Unlocked Sony Ericsson Xperia ARC S, Hot Deals at $469.99

The Unlocked Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S will feature a 4.2 LED screen with Sony’s “Reality Display” technology. Boosted with a 1.4 Ghz Snapdragon processor, 8.1 MP camera as well as what Sony is calling 3D and 2D sweep panorama photography. You can shoot photos or video then use HDMI out and view the content in full 3D on your HDTV. The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S will also ship with many of Sony’s increasingly popular services such as Music Unlimited, and Video Unlimited for all the streaming of digital content one would ever need. Looking at it alongside the Xperia Arc S, its immediate predecessor, the Xperia S has done away with the back panel design which curves inwards along the phone’s length. It still curves outwards width-ways, so it doesn’t exactly sit flatly in the hand but it isn’t quite as contoured as theArc S. The Huawei Ascend D1 shares the same form factor as the rest of Huawei’s new ‘Diamond’ range, and can best be described as a slightly narrower and more softened take on the Samsung Galaxy S2-style slab design. This is something that works well, in our view, as the proportions and shapes are appealing to the eye. Huawei’s device has a 4.5-inch Super IPS + capacitive multi-touch LCD display with a very nice 1280×720 pixel resolution, which means it can boast a pixel density of 326 pixels-per-inch (ppi). That’s within touching distance of the iPhone 4S’s 330ppi Retina screen often used as a yardstick by which to measure others.

* Sony entertainment network services access – Music Unlimited and Video Unlimited – Download media direct to your smartphone

* 25% faster camera start up time

20% faster web page rendering

Improved call and standby time

The new flagship Android device from Sony Ericsson the Xperia Arc Shas those small improvements that can make all the difference.

The result will be some excellent picture quality for viewing pictures, videos, games and web pages. It features am ever-so-slightly smaller 4.3-inch LED-backlit capacitive LCD with multi-touch support and the same resolution as the Huawei Ascend D1. That means it also sports an iPhone-beating 342ppi pixel density for some incredibly clear and sharp visual capability. Huawei’s Ascend D1 has 8GB of onboard storage space and 1GB of RAM to help things run smoothly along with a micro SD slot for cards up to 32GB. The Sony Xperia S quadruples the Ascend D1′s storage capacity, with a generous 32GB. RAM is the same at 1GB but sadly there’s no microSD slot. The back plate also flexes and the plastic flap that covers the HDMI port on the top edge isn’t exactly classy. Of course you do pay the price in weight on these partially metal handsets and by sticking largely to plastic the Arc S is indeed among the lightest phones in its class (117g). Images from the 8-megapixel built-in camera are a little variable. Shoot outside, in good light, with the sun behind you, and you’ll get a fantastic, rich and detailed shot with lovely, accurate colours.                                                         go to Xperia ARC S deals

Unlocked Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 GSM Phones and Hot Deals

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 is sequel to the popular, albeit mind-bendingly expensive, Xperia X1, which was released by Sony Ericsson in 2008. The X2 is much cheaper than it’s predecessor, and because the X1 was considered “”state-of-the-art”" at the time, little has changed this time around. Sony Ericsson’s newly official XPERIA X2 in the flesh. It’s got a flashy (gimmicky?) home screen, along with a view for “”snacking”" on bubbled-up information. Lots of buzzwords, but we’ll need more time hands-on to know how we feel.

After a strong caveat that what we’re looking at is preproduction software, a Sony Ericsson rep admitted that Windows Mobile 6.5 isn’t all it could be — though we’re unsure why Sony Ericsson didn’t throw a bit more hardware at the problem, the floating Sony Ericsson home screen seemed to excuse any of the UI lag it introduces. Again, early software, but the X1 didn’t exactly rise above its preproduction jankiness. The X2 a will feature 850 MHz 3G, fully suited for AT&T, Rogers, and most other North American carriers. However, you’ll also pay a few hundred bucks more for the privilege. Since this is the only difference between the X2i? and the X2a, I’ll be addressing them collectively as the X2 for the duration.
